3. Want things FOR people; not things FROM people. 

There are certainly times when it’s appropriate to desire and ask for favors, BUT our primary motivations should always be the welfare of others. Even with the influence we’re trying to gain, that influence is most powerful only when it is most pure. The reasons why we should desire influence is only so that we could help more people; and while you will yourself be helped and blessed in the process, the primary motivation must ALWAYS be help others; not helping yourself.
