
3. Confession shows character. Secrecy shows deception.
We want to hide our mistakes, sins and flaws from our spouse (and everyone else), but when we try to keep something hidden, it numbs our own conscience in the process. Secrets don’t make us stronger; they make us weaker (and they weaken our marriages as well). If you made a bad choice in the past, please don’t cover it up by making a bad choice every single day to deliberately and dishonestly hide it. No matter what it might cost you, the truth is always worth telling.
