I will challenge you on that GoodDad. As men our we truly loving our wives as Christ loves the church, living out Ephesians 5:25? If we are doing that then I don’t believe there would be so many broken marriages. We as men are to be like Christ initiating love to our wives and they respond accordingly. 1 Peter 3:7 further illustrates this, “In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.”

I look to Christ as the example of the truest form of love. Jesus did not require respect before He loved us. He endured all the sin of the world (abuse and all other forms of sin and death) so that we were set free to be a new creation. Take a look at Luke 6:27-36, about how it talks about how we are to love our enemies. That is the truest love.
