David Barton and Rick Green had Baptist minister Danny Holliday on the Wallbuilders radio show earlier this week. Holliday was active in the fight against marriage equality in Illinois. And he has one of the most warped interpretations of the First Amendment you’re ever going to see:

David Barton continued his dishonest and irrational tirade against the Supreme Court’s marriage equality rulings, adding a new argument to the lies he’s already told: Gay people are going to join the military just so they can get married.

Warren Throckmorton catches David Barton finding a whole new way to lie to his ignorant and credulous audience, knowing full well they’ll never catch him at it. Take a look at this chart that Barton likes to show during his talks to claim that violent crime has gone up almost 700% since Bible reading was removed from schools.

It turns out that the constitution and the views of the founding fathers are not the only subjects about which David Barton will lie. He also went on Glenn Beck’s TV show and declared that the NRA was actually founded in order to stop the KKK, a claim that even the NRA does not make.

Warren Throckmorton notes that David Barton has been quietly changing the audio on a Youtube video that shows him taking people on a tour of the capitol and delivering his usual litany of lies and half-truths about America being a Christian nation. He’s changed a whole bunch of his statements in the original video, usually weakening them so they’re not quite so dishonest.

Todd Starnes, Fox News’ Executive Vice President for Pearl Clutching, is having one of his usual tantrums about HGTV offering a tip to use a nylon American flag as a tablecloth for 4th of July picnics and celebrations. ZOMG! That’s a violation of the flag code!

It’s really quite amusing to me listening to the David Barton types trying to find some connection between the Constitution and the Bible. Bryan Fischer delivered a ridiculous screed claiming that the basis of the 4th Amendment is the “inviolability of the home,” which is found in Joshua 7. Here’s the video:

Remember Al Bedrosian, the Republican candidate for a county board of supervisors in Virginia who wrote an op-ed piece a few years ago claiming that only Christians are covered by the free exercise clause and that all other religions should be outlawed? Dan Casey gave him a chance to walk that back and he did so only very slightly.

William Federer, another Christian right fake historian (he has a degree in accounting) that isn’t quite as well known as David Barton, went on the 700 Club recently to talk about Benghazi and came up with a new conspiracy theory: It was all part a plan by Obama and Hillary Clinton to spread Sharia law around the world. Oh, and it’s all about Saul Alinsky. Of course it is.

I don’t drink coffee and I can’t imagine why I would ever care where someone else gets theirs, but David Barton told the congregation at an Alabama church recently that “You can’t drink Starbucks and be Biblically right” because they support marriage equality.

David Barton is reiterating what he has said many times before, that God sent AIDS and continues to send new diseases to punish people for sin, especially homosexuality. And yet it will not cost him one bit of the political influence has in the Republican party.

You gotta hand it to Joseph Farah and the Worldnutdaily. When he decides to focus on a story or an event, he can beat that horse until it’s so dead that even flies wouldn’t touch it. Take his 9/11 prayer and fasting rally, which his site is promoting with a new story nearly every day. Never mind that there’s nothing new to report. If some obscure figure says they like the idea — voila — a whole new article. Like this one, which suggests that the event is already producing “miracles.” What miracles, you ask? Good question.
