Professional liar David Barton is once again telling his most outrageous lie of all, that the Constitution is taken “word for word” from the Bible. He says it’s very convincing to pastors, but he should try convincing actual educated people about it.
It is often said that the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but only David Barton could turn the absence of evidence into positive evidence for the conclusion he wants people to believe. He says the lack of mention of God in the Constitution only proves that it’s a Christian document.
David Barton is branching out in his lying. Now he isn’t just lying about American history or about the Bible, or even about his own personal history, he’s also lying in order to defend Bill O’Reilly and dismiss allegations of sexual harassment.
David Barton lies. A lot. He does it professionally and he does it audaciously. But I would argue that his single biggest lie, which he repeats constantly, is that you’ll find “almost verbatim wording in many clauses of the Constitution to passages in the Bible.” He repeated it yet again last week and cited the infamous Lutz study to support it:

Fans of irony will love this one. Glenn Beck is criticizing others for not owning up to their mistakes when they spread false information and holding himself up as a model for how to show that kind of intellectual honesty. The mind boggles at the thought.
You’d think that after Sean Spicer’s astonishing meltdown making Hitler comparisons, conservatives would steer clear of that analogy. But not David Barton, who recently made a trip to Poland and concluded that gay rights is just like Hitler. Seriously.
My old friend Chris Rodda has caught professional liar David Barton once again completely distorting a quote from Thomas Jefferson to make it say the precise opposite of what he claims it said. This time it’s about immigration. Here’s what Barton said:

The Worldnetdaily reported the story and their readers excoriated the principal in the most lurid terms:
