Bryan Fischer continues his remarkable track record of being wrong on absolutely everything with this idiotic screed:

I will not disabuse you – if you think there is a parallel between Islamic fundamentalism and the homosexual agenda, if they have the same tyrannical impulse – the same impulse of hatred, the same impulse of vitriol, the same impulse of the spirit of anti-Christ, anti-Christian spirit, a vitriolic hatred of all things that are connection to the name of Christ, I’m not going to disabuse you of that notion. I think it’s the same dark energy. Islam wants to completely silence and neutralize Christians everywhere in the world. That’s exactly what the homosexual agenda wants to do.

Do not mishear me on this because I am being very intentional on this: the same spirit of intolerance that’s at work in Islam is at work in the homosexual agenda. The same spirit of hatred, the same spirit of enmity toward anything connected with Christ, the same enmity, the same vitriol is at work in Islam and in the homosexual agenda.

Uber-bigot Bryan Fischer continues his insane argument for applying the First Amendment only to Christians. Now he’s claiming that it doesn’t apply to Mormons either. Here’s his, uh, “reasoning.”

My argument all along has been that the purpose of the First Amendment is to protect the free exercise of the Christian religion.

One evidence that [the Founding Fathers] were not dealing … they weren’t even intending to deal with non-Christian religions is what they did with Mormonism in the latter part of the nineteenth century.

In retrospect, it was only a matter of time before Bryan Fischer started writing columns for the Worldnutdaily, right? I mean, the guy has been diligently spouting batshit crazy and bigoted things for years — he’s earned a spot in the lineup.

Bryan Fischer did his usual hyper-emotional overreaction to absolutely nothing on his radio show this week, ranting about a group of Muslims having a day together at a Six Flags amusement park in Texas — ZOMG, on the anniversary of 9/11!

Up to 3000 Muslims in Texas are expected to swarm a Six Flags amusement park in San Antonio on 9/11 for “Muslim Family Day.”

Yes, you heard that right. Muslims are going to hold a big party on the 10th anniversary of the Muslim attacks that resulted in the deaths of 3000 infidel American dogs.

Now I think this is just about as bad as it can possibly get. Imagine if you had Japanese who lived in Texas … now imagine that they have a big giant hoedown and barbecue every year on December 7. Now the Japanese at least have had the decency to hang their heads in shame over a day that rightfully will live forever in infamy. But the Muslim community in Texas apparently is so brazen, they show absolutely no shame, and their intending instead to rub our noses in the whole mess.

Two of the craziest and most dangerous of the wingnuts, retired Gen. Jerry Boykin and the AFA’s Bryan Fischer, got together on Fischer’s radio show recently to bring some serious crazy. They declared that Islam is not a religion, that it isn’t covered by the First Amendment, that we should ban the building of mosques in this country and should not allow any Muslims to emigrate to the United States. Right Wing Watch has the transcript and the video.

I wrote recently about a new survey that finds that American Muslims continue to be far more moderate and reasonable than similar populations overseas. One of the interesting questions was whether they tend to see themselves as Muslims first or as Americans first. And the results were quite similar for both Muslims and Christians:

Muslim or American: A majority of Muslim Americans (56%) say that most Muslims who come to the U.S. want to adopt American customs and ways of life. In contrast, just a third (33%) of the general public believes that Muslims who come to the U.S. want to assimilate. Asked to choose, nearly half of Muslims in the U.S. (49%) say they think of themselves first as a Muslim, 26% say they think of themselves first as an American, and 18% say they are both. Among U.S. Christians, 46% say they identify as Christian first, while the same number identify as American first.

Bryan Fischer once again demands that gay people be put in jail:

Fischer: Both of the cases that went to the United States Supreme Court that dealt with the issue of whether states should criminalize sodomy, and of course they still ought to be able to do it, every state in the union criminalized sodomy until 1962 and then forty nine states until 1972, then they began to fall like dominoes. But by the time of the founding until the late 20th Century, homosexual activity was a felony offense in the United States of America, there is no reason why it cannot be a criminal offense once again, absolutely none.

But how dare you suggest that the AFA is a hate group! They love gay people. And they’ll keep on loving them while they throw them in jail. Amen.

One of the craziest memes to emerge on the loony right over the last few years is the one advocated by Scott Lively and Bryan Fischer, among others, that Adolf Hitler was carrying out some kind of pro-gay pogrom. Historian Jonathan Zimmerman debunks this ridiculous lie. Noting that several of the Republican candidates for president have deliberately associated themselves with Fischer as he’s told this lie repeatedly on his radio show, Zimmerman gives the real history of the Nazi regime:

First class loony Bryan Fischer did part of his radio show on the subject of whether women should hold positions of political power given the Bible’s statements about women being submissive to men. Right Wing Watch was listening:

Fischer took calls from listeners, almost all of whom felt that it is inappropriate and unbiblical for a woman to be president, with callers after caller asserting that women are just too emotional to be in such positions of authority. Toward the end of the first hour, a woman named Robin called in and suggested that the fact that America is even in a position of potentially having a woman president is a sign that America is under a “curse” because that is what God does to those lands that are in his “disfavor.”

Poor Herman Cain just can’t win. He tries to act like a reasonable person by apologizing for saying that Muslims aren’t covered by the First Amendment and now one of his main benefactors is mad at him.

It looks like Herman Cain’s handlers have gotten to him again. Just when we thought he’d found his voice once more on the threat that Islam poses to the West, he issued a “humble and contrite” apology on Wednesday for any offense he may have caused Muslims. Herman says he stands by his previous statements, but if so, what is he apologizing for? I love Herman Cain, but he’s confusing me here.

He’s confusing the rest of us by trying to act sane when he’s not; he’s confusing Bryan Fischer because sanity simply does not compute for him.

Bryan Fischer says that the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell will mean no more gays joining the military. And no more straights joining because they hate being around all those gays who will no longer be there. Oh, and he says he’ll bet everything he has that this will lead to reinstatement of the draft and then gays will demand that DADT be put back into effect. I’ll take that bet, Bryan. Happily. It’s almost worth wishing for another draft just to watch him lose that bet. Seriously, this would be a much better world if this kind of stupidity was actually physically painful.

Bryan Fischer continues his diatribe against sanity by arguing that the government should outlaw profanity and blasphemy. And he goes on quite a rant about how the NBA punished a player for calling someone a faggot and MSNBC suspended Ed Schultz for calling Laura Ingraham a slut, thus proving that we can outlaw blasphemy and profanity.

Apparently the distinction between a private company punishing their own employees and the government punishing speech he doesn’t like is lost on him. It’s that First Amendment thing, Bryan. It’s kind of important. You should read it some time. Another “small government” conservative in favor of the largest and most intrusive government they can invent.
