Sharia law is no longer merely creeping into America, it’s now “galloping” — and it’s all because of halal food. But the crack reporting team from the Worldnutdaily is on the case.

Specialty markets first supplied “halal” food to Muslims in America, then restaurants joined in the effort and now the very grocery stores from which you buy hamburger and chops are offering food that has been slaughtered according to Islamic ritual, according to responses from food outlets contacted by WND.

Dick and Liz Cheney both came out in support of the lifting of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy on Sunday:

The decision “is a good one, a right one to do,” Dick Cheney said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Added Liz Cheney: “It was the right decision to repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”

So the Cheneys hate America and love the terrorists and they support destroying the country, right Elaine Donnelly? Right, Bryan Fischer?

People for the American Way has a handy guide to the lineup of cranks and bigots speaking at this weekend’s Values Voters Summit. It includes Bryan Fischer, Glenn Beck, Jerry Boykin and many more. And of course, nearly all of the Republican presidential candidates seeking to kiss their rings and appeal to the most ignorant and authoritarian audience they can find.

Wingnuts Cindy Jacobs and Michael Brown say that part of the gay agenda is wanting to throw Christians in jail:

Robert Spencer and David Horowitz have an op-ed at the National Review Online in which they commit one of the most basic logical fallacies of all — the fallacy of the excluded middle, aka the false dichotomy. In their estimation, you either believe all the crazy things they do about radical Islamists taking over the United States or you’re a terrorist sympathizer yourself.

In recent months, several reports have appeared to a generally uncritical reception in the press, which purport to expose alleged conspiracies organized by “Islamophobes” against American citizens who mean us no harm. These reports single out for condemnation a dozen prominent conservative figures (and mostly the same dozen) who have publicly criticized the misogyny, bigotry, and terrorism promoted by many (but not all) Islamic institutions and religious texts.

Mat Staver, quite possibly the worst lawyer in American not named Larry Klayman, seems to be utterly incapable of recognizing irony. To wit:

You know, one of the things I am concerned about – and it really has gone on for quite a while and it gets even more and more escalated – and that is this rhetoric that people use within the political arena. Instead of really trying to deal with differences and try to understand each others differences and ultimately confront them, there’s this bombastic rhetoric. And this rhetoric by Hoffa in regards to his idea, they’ve never been condemned by people in leadership and they should be. It’s just completely uncalled for, the kind of rhetoric that he was dealing with.

It prevents things like this:

A French court handed out a 6,000 euro ($8,421) suspended fine to John Galliano on Thursday after finding him guilty of anti-Semitic behavior, marking the end in a fall from grace for the former head designer of fashion house Dior…

The fine, in line with what a prosecutor had recommended in June, falls short of the maximum sentence in such cases of a 22,000 euro fine and 6-month prison sentence.

You simply must read this article at OneNewsNow about the image problem that evangelicals have in this country:

According to noted author and lecturer Rusty Wright, evangelicals have an “image problem.” And because past actions may have tarnished the witness of the Christian right, he says some bridge-building may be in order…

“A lot of people, when they think of evangelical Christians, they think of people who are gay-bashing, women-haters, abortion doctor-killers — things like that,” Wright suggests. “They’re thinking of the extremes, and they don’t realize, maybe haven’t even been exposed to a lot of the very positive things that Christians do and the positive qualities of Jesus that [Christians] try to emulate.”

It’s been quite amusing to me to watch the loony right run away from Herman Cain ever since he issued a rather meaningless apology to Muslim Americans for his many bigoted statements about them and his claim that the First Amendment doesn’t apply to them. Frank Gaffney abandoned him. Bryan Fischer abandoned him. And now he’s lost the prom queen of the Islamophobic right, Pam Geller.

From Bryan Fischer:

We’re not talking about imposing these values, we’re not talking about insisting that other people acknowledge and obey these values, we are simply talking about public policy that honors certain behavior and discourages other behavior.

Oh, of course. Because forcing gays into reparation therapy isn’t imposing values at all!

Bryan Fischer climbs up on the cross and nails himself to it:

“Alas, the homosexual lobby is rapidly turning us into China and the former Soviet Union. Christians are now being treated officially as second-class citizens with far fewer human and civil rights than those who engage in aberrant sexual behavior.”

Those poor Christians are so oppressed!

2011-07-24T09:26:20-04:00

Even by dumbass quote of the day standards, this one from Bryan Fischer may take the cake:

[T]he First Amendment was written neither to guarantee freedom of religion to Muslims or Buddhists or Hindus nor to prohibit their free exercise of religion. It wasn’t written about them one way or another.

It was written for one specific purpose: to protect the free exercise of the Christian religion … We must be clear: the First Amendment does not prohibit the free exercise of alternative religions, but neither does it guarantee it. It simply does not address the issue at all.

That’s completely insane.
