Those who think prayer works and that God controls everything often must tie themselves into all kinds of knots when trying to explain away an unpleasant reality, offering a whole range of ad hoc excuses and rationalizations. Glenn Beck is now trying to figure out why God would let Romney fall so far behind in the presidential race when, obviously, he wants Romney to win. And rather than just accepting that most voters just don’t agree with him, he declares that God is letting it look good for Obama so that everyone will know it’s a miracle when Romney wins:
In what may be the least surprising news since Ted Haggard was caught snorting meth off a male hooker’s glutes, it looks like David Barton’s book The Jefferson Lies will be reissued by Glenn Beck’s publishing company after being dropped by Thomas Nelson.
Glenn Beck is planning another big rally called Restoring Love, to be held at Texas Stadium on July 28. And he plans to restore love with the help of a sizable group of hateful bigots and liars, including David Barton (who wouldn’t know the truth if if crawled up his pantleg, perched on his ass and yodeled the Ave Maria). And he’s hardly alone:
I’m sure it will come as no surprise that Fox News and Glenn Beck’s The Blaze website are both hopping mad at the Military Religious Freedom Foundation for pressuring the Pentagon to pull the right to produce and sell Bibles carrying the official emblems of the four branches of the armed services. Beck’s site starts with a lie right in the headline:
Glenn Beck had David Barton on his show last week and Beck declared that “if we save the country, when we save the country, a lot of the credit in the afterlife is going to go to you.” Barton says God has put all those historical documents that he lies about in his hands.
Glenn Beck was on James Robison’s televangelist show recently and said all kinds of predictably crazy things. Like did you know that we’re all in bed with “absolute evil” and worshiping Baal, the allegedly evil deity from the Old Testament? I didn’t either.
Glenn Beck’s website The Blaze sent a reporter to the Reason Rally to record people saying outrageous things, and boy did they find some. Like did you know that atheists think religion is superstitious nonsense? That’s one of the many things their crack reporter found out.
When Fox News didn’t renew Glenn Beck’s contract and let him take his show to the internet, you knew it was just a matter of time before they started taking shots at one another. Glenn Beck has lobbed the first grenade, claiming that Fox News told him to stop his bizarre conspiracy-mongering about George Soros.
Pop the popcorn, kids, it’s time for more wingnut on wingnut crime. This time it’s Andrew Breitbart going after Glenn Beck after the latter suggested that if the Tea Party folks support Newt Gingrich but not Obama, it can only be because of race.
