Sooner or later the US dollar will lose its glitter. There is no alernative at the present time. It is still safe compared with other currencies. It is backed by still the most powerful economic engine. But all that foreign debts leave the US dollar in a very vulnerable position. Gold price has gone up and to that extent the US dollar has gone down. Perhaps EURO will replace it. And it has gone down compared with it.
