Charges under MCOCA against Purohit and Sadhvi dropped

A special court in Mumbai has dropped all charges under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Lt Col Prasad Purohit (retd.) and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur (total 11 suspects).

This means that these suspects will not be tried under MCOCA anymore. Mahesh Jethmalani and Shrikant Shivade were representing the accused. Jethmalani argued that the application of MCOCA was malafide in this case.
