On the 9th Day of Christmas… January 2, 2012

…Mama finally got around to editing those Christmas pics…

How was your Christmas?

For us, the day started off normal enough, both kids slept until a whopping 8:30am to prove miracles still do happen.

We changed the boys into their matching p.j.’s their wonderful daycare provider, MiMi made for them, because of course we couldn’t risk letting them actually sleep in them.  Pee, turds & oatmeal later they would have destroyed them and ruined my Christmas pictures.  It was an easy choice.

…Here we go…

Within a few minutes, it became pretty clear, R1 was not feeling well.  His temp was about 102!  Every time the poor little guy sat down he’d drift off to sleep.  And being Christmas and all, he didn’t want to miss a minute of what was going on.  The hubs wound up carrying him around…

…gifts…

I blurred this pic of R1 intentionally using the Snapseed app on my iPhone.  For some reason, I really love this thoughtful look on his face.  He was watching his current fave show on Netflix, Curious George and was feeling pretty miserable.  Our cat, Little Jerri Seinfeld perched on him to watch too.  Not sure if she came for comfort or because she has a knack for being around when it’s the most inconvenient.  R1 seemed to appreciate it.

…Near the end of the night, R1 got enough energy to wrestle a little bit with Daddy & R2…

The iPhone doesn’t do so well with motion, but overall I love the simplicity of not dealing with my real camera.  Such a lazy bones.

Who was happy about R1 being sick?  R2!  Lots of one-on-one wrestling time with Daddy!

At about 7:30pm, R1 looked at us said “I’m going to bed.  Goodnight.”  He went to his room and that was that.  I think it was the most anti-climactic Christmas of a 6 yr. old of ALL time.  I posted the collage below on my InstaGram account the day after Christmas…I love it.

A few days before Christmas, R1 & I dropped off some food and supplies at our local Gospel Mission and toured the facility.  On Christmas day, I was acutely aware of the fact that we have our own house, with our own food and are able to care for our children without the debilitating sickness of unhealthy addictions.  Despite R1’s fever, I was extremely grateful for the many blessings God has given us in one another.

What were you most thankful for on Christmas?
