My top 8, Audible Picks of 2011

My favorite eight, Audible Book Picks of 2011

I read and or listened to a lot of pretty awesome books this year.  Next post, I’ll deal with the ones I actually read, but for now here’s my favorite “listens” of the year.

There is something amazing about LISTENING to a book, especially when it’s read by the author.

Tina Fey’s, BossyPants: SO. FUNNY.  So. Enjoyable.  This is a MUST-LISTEN.  Hearing Tina Fey deliver these jokes packs a  POWER punch.

Angela’s Ashes: Amazingly written memoir, a MUST-LISTEN.  Frank McCourt singing and telling of his sad Irish upbringing in his Irish accent.  Wow.

The Furious Longing of God: Brennan Manning’s soulful, smooth, wonderfully beautiful reminder of how much God loves us, was exactly what I needed this year.

The Hunger Games trilogy was VERY good, but so friggin’ sad.

The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore: A novel about a genius monkey trying to make it outside of life in a zoo.  A MUST-LISTEN.  The reader was incredible!  Funny, AMAZINGLY WRITTEN, wonderful, awesome book! I loved loved loved this book.  Shouldn’t surprise you since I love monkeys! =)

Mennonite in a Little Black Dress: I love Rhoda’s writing style & appreciated her story of going home & re-engaging with her childhood religion.  She tells it with beauty & humor.

I listened to the entire Shopaholic series on all my 4-5 hour drives this year.  They are light, fun &  non-stressful.  The PERFECT escape books for a fashion loving chick.

Go the F–K to Sleep.  It’s written by a parent, communicating —with copious use of the F-Bomb— how he wants his child to go the blank-to-sleep.  Hearing Samuel Jackson read it…well, it’s just hilarious!

So, what books have y’all listened to this year?

(or actually read)! =)
