Unto the Father

Unto the Father August 29, 2006

One of the challenges of the whole idea of evolution is that an
understanding of the infinity implied, the eternity in human years
equates, or should equate, to an understanding of our shared fate, and
the role of individual agency, rather than a worship of the self, or a
complete denial of individual agency, turning our fates over to the
father.

Unfortunately, the "father" tends to be the dominant power, the power that wants everything to stay the same.

Staying the same is not evolving to meet the challenges brought to
our existence in being part of an evolving creation, one that we can
choose to steward, bringing us closer to God, or one that we can choose
to ignore our part in, bringing about armageddon.

This is the fundamental challenge we face as Christians. Do we believe
in a saviour who himself demonstrated an ever expanding love? Or a God
who represents a reflection of our own self importance, the ultimate
idolatry – worship of the biographical self.
