It is easy to say Jesus was a liberal if you only concentrate on a few aspects of Jesus' life. Really what he was was neither and both. He defended the unborn and was against homosxuality which would make him conservative and stood with the disenfranchised and the poor (liberal). But he was more than that. He did not take sides politically. When asked about paying a temple tax he said give to Caesar's what is Caesar's and to God what is Gods, knowing full well that in the end it all belongs to God anyways.
I myself am an independent probably more conservative than anything although I did vote for Clinton the first time around and regretted it. But I am willing to listen to what anybody has to say and if they are in line with the Bible teaches (at least along the major points I won't squabble over the minor stuff) I will more than likely vote for them because I believe that they are following Jesus. I will continue to monitor thier rhetoric and pray for them so that they will know that God is there for them and meeting thier needs.
Politically I am independent but first and foremost I am a follower of Christ.
