As the media continues to flood us with the details regarding the Foley scandel it seems that another scandel is brewing in D.C.
As the media continues to flood us with the details regarding the Foley scandel it seems that another scandel is brewing in D.C.
These scandels are moral issues, a failure of our leadership to be
honest and direct with the people that vote for them, the people that
are the power in a democracy.
According to a new book by Bob Woodward, "State of Denial" and other
sources it seems that the administration lied about events leading up
the invasion of Iraq. In the new book Woodward writes about the
meeting that Rice had with former CIA chief George Tenet that warned
her about a possible al-Qaida attack on U.S. soil a full two months
before September 11, 2001.
All the while Rice said, "What I am quite certain of is that I would remember if I was told, as
this account apparently says, that there was about to be an attack in
the United States, and the idea that I would somehow have ignored that
I find incomprehensible,"
Also: "I don't know that this meeting took place, but what I really don't
know, what I'm quite certain of, is that it was not a meeting in which
I was told there was an impending attack and I refused to respond."
The facts are beginning to show otherwise. As people of faith we need
to respond in a way that asks for accountability from our leaders
whether they are Republicans or Democrats.
A democracy is set up to give the people the ultimate check and
balance with the power of the ballot in conjunction with the media to
be a supplier of information.
The citizens of this great country and the media that reports the
news cannot lose sight of their job in demanding accountability from
their elected leaders and the people they appoint.
