By their fruits are they known; the smartest thing Congress could do 2013-05-09T06:09:47-06:00

My faith teaches me that “By your fruits are ye known."   I think it's crystal clear by the fruits of Bush's actions as well as his administration's inactions, what the fruits of their labors are: death, corruption, destruction, cronyism, abuse of power, waste.   I believe these all are accurate and appropriate adjectives.  Again, in my faith, that just doesn't fly.   The good tree cannot produce corrupt or evil fruit!  And yet there is still a group that profess themselves to be Christians who remain loyal to this administration's policies despite and contrary to what their faith teaches.  They justify these actions in the name of power and politics.  This, my friends, is perhaps the reason why most people just don’t care about politics anymore.

The GOP has been operating under fear based policies for so long it has gotten itself caught up in its own game at the expense of our country and contrary to the teachings of the faith that so fervently supports their actions with their votes. My faith teaches: "There is no fear in love.  Perfect Love casteth out fear because fear hath torment!"  In fact in many cases in the scriptures the first words out of the mouths of angels and prophets is Be NOT AFRAID!  Using fear to rationalize actions or motivate people is in direct opposition to the confessed beliefs of those in power!  It cannot be both ways!

The smartest thing Congress could do today, despite our differences, is come together against Bush and this administration before they squander EVERYTHING that as Americans we hold dear and precious!    Surely Congress is getting the message that the American people are fed up with their political banter and constant bickering without results.  Our voice will be heard whether it's today in our blogs or tomorrow with our votes.  If congress was smart they would see that their political future employment now clings to their DIRECT OPPOSITION to anything and everything that this administration wants or even suggests.

Bush and his administration will have power for 18 more months ONLY IF the people and the Congress allow it.  If all sides come together, we can take away their power. Imagine all the good things we can accomplish in that same 18 months as a United America focusing on compromise and solutions.   Please, can't we agree to disagree agreeably and yet find these remedies the way our forefathers did, for the sake of our children who are dying every day overseas?   The smartest action that all senators and congressman can take is to say NO to this administration, walk away from their strong arm totalitarian tactics and unite with the other side for the greater good of America, allegedly the home of the free and the BRAVE!!!!!  The question is: will tomorrow's leaders be as courageous and as of good faith in the people as did our founding forefathers?

Congressmen and Senators that believe standing strong by Bush on these issues are only portraying themselves as stubborn, inflexible and oblivious to the will of all the constituents in their districts. Those that continue to embrace and support the failed policies of the past, will absolutely fall by the wayside in 2008.   American voters will see through these duplicitous actions, as a vain attempt to give the appearance of accomplishment and advance their own political agenda in lieu of real solutions to real problems, to real people's pain!

These matters are of no consequence to Bush, his administration or his cronies. Their time is running out.  They are on the way out.  They know this!  They are just marking time as they have already accomplished their mission and are laughing all the way out the door to the bank.

By their fruits are they known – not their pretty words or promises.  Let us remember that phrase when voting in 2008.  Actions speak louder than words!  My vote will be decided by the actions of a politician anytime, any day versus their pretty words and empty promises.  Nobody believes their words anymore.  It's all seen as political spin which is often nothing more than out right lies.  The smartest thing that Congress could do is shut up, come together and take immediate action as representatives for the people of the United States, against Bush and the atrocities of his administration.  We need not impeach this man to diminish his capacity to continue to adversely affect the future of our great nation.  Our victory will be in coming together unified from all sides and overriding his despotic notions that serve no purpose other than their own avarice and stubborn adherence to being right at all costs even when the costs is American lives.

In the words of the first great Republican, John Adams, when he referred to events that took place in 1776 leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence: "that by sweeping aside the insolent Domination of a very few opulent, monopolizing families that had held power through their wealth and political ties……could result in the achievement of a more equal Liberty, than had prevailed in other parts of the Earth."  Sounds like an eerily, accurate description of today's administration.

Adam's view of being a Republican lied within 2 core beliefs that the Bushies have either blatantly overlooked or are just plainly ignorant of.  These core beliefs were to eliminate "idolatry to Monarchs and servility to Aristocratical Pride, and in their place secure the belief that the people were the source of all authority and power.” My, my, my!  How far have the loyalists in the Republican Party separated themselves from the very principles they allegedly represent.   The smartest thing Congress could do is take heed to the words of John Adams as a wake up call if they truly desire to remain employed by the people who possess the final authority.

Yes, we the people, do have power my friends thanks to the integrity of men like John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Men who were willing to work with others of various and opposing political beliefs in the name of a better and greater society with liberty and freedom for all, not just the wealthy or well known families.  History has repeatedly demonstrated that our power lies in our actions when we sit up, pay attention and participate in the discussion.  In the end, the final authority lies in the people's ability to do the right thing and participate in this great Republic by voting.   If  80% of the eligible voters participated in the process versus today's meager 55-60%, there would be seen historic changes that once again, in the words of John Adams, "could result in the achievement of a more equal Liberty, than had prevailed in other parts of the Earth”.
