Recently, I did a television interview about the Iraq Memorial Quilt. When asked what inspired me, I said, "well, I believe, God inspired me to make this quilt," and then went on to tell why I believed that.
When the news piece came out on TV, it began as "…….doesn't know why she made the quilt". See video clip at www.iraqmemorialquilt.com.
What's wrong with just saying the truth? Why did they have to edit out God? As far as I can tell, TV stations aren't owned or operated by the Government.
And as far as I know, just saying the word God isn't advocating any particular religious beliefs other than belief in God.
Now I appreciate this news station helping me spread the word about the quilt. I just don't understand why the same station that labels Wis Dem Senator Russ Feingold as Liberal, edited out God's name at the same time.
Look, I'm not a right wing religious zealot by a long shot. But the majority of people in this country believe in some kind of diety referred to as God. The atheists are in the minority. So why are we slanting the news towards the minority?
Some might argue that to attibute my inspiration to God makes me appear a bit crazy. I say, so what!? Even if I were totally nuts, which I'm not, what would it matter? It would not decrease the significance of the quilt and what it represents.
If a celebrity can thank God for blessing their careers, then why can't I acknowledge and/or thank god for my inspiration as well as the ability to act on my inspiration.
My heavenly father is a God of peace. My heavenly father chose a girl, a nobody to give birth to his son. So why can't my father inspire an ordinary person to perform extraordinary acts? And when that happens, what is wrong with acknowledging it?
Well this quilt was truly an inspiration from my heavenly father. To find out more about why I believe this…check out www.iraqmemorialquilt.com
