Bush Said

Bush Said 2013-05-09T06:09:52-06:00

For years, all we heard from the GOP was that Democrats didn't mean what they said.  It appears Dubya is the worst offender of all.

Bush said we must invade Iraq in order to remove Saddam Hussein because he was trying to get nuclear weapons and collaborating with Al Qaeda.  And yet upon arrival, the military failed to secure the only nuclear processing plant in Iraq.  In their rush to Baghdad, they just pushed on through and left it behind unguarded and open for anyone to loot.  And loot they did.  The place was looted so badly that the IAEA has to pour yards and yards of concrete to minimize radiation to a level when people could go in and perform clean up operations.

Bush said  Mission Accomplished less than 2 months after invasion ….May 2003.  4 years later, Over 3000 Americans have died since the mission was accomplished.  What happened?
Bush said we can't leave until we find Saddam Hussein and the WMD's.  Saddam Hussein has been found, tried and executed.  There never were WMD's.
Bush said we can't leave until there are free elections.  Free Elections have been held.
Bush said we can't leave until there is a govt in place.  There is a govt in place.
Bush said we cant leave until there is a constitution. a rule of law.  There has been a constitution duly ratified and voted on by the people of Iraq.
Bush said we can't leave until there is a police force and an army to train.  Bush just this past week, US has ceased these very training exercises.
Bush says we can't leave as long as there is a terrorist threat.  There will always be a terrorist threat in any country in the middle east.  Shall we invade them all?
Bush says we are making America safer by fighting in Iraq.  The fighting in Iraq is in fact making America less safe because we are now seen NOT as liberators but as OCCUPIERS.
The war on terrorism is about our presence in the Middle East.  The other night on the Daily show, Presidential Candidate John McCain said read what Bin Laden has said. So I went back and read what Al Qaeda including Bin Laden have said.  They have repeatedly said that they want US Military presence out of Saudi and the Middle East which they believe is sacred ground being defiled by infidels.  So our very presence in Iraq is only feeding the will to remove our presence from thier lands.
Bush says if we don't fight them there they will follow us here.  However, didn't they come over here first?  And by the way, none of the people on the planes on 9/11 were from Iraq.  In fact the vast majority were Saudi, a neighbor of Iraq and an alledged friend to the US govt?
Bush said, just the other day — "Either we'll succeed, or we won't succeed. And the definition of success as I described is sectarian violence down. Success is not, no violence. There are parts of our own country that have got a certain level of violence to it. But success is a level of violence where the people feel comfortable about living their daily lives. And that's what we're trying to achieve."  Ever notice how he keeps changing the stated mission every time he talks about Iraq?  This last statement makes absolutely no sense at all and is a perfect example of why we need to bring our troops home NOW!
Bush said he would do whatever if took to find Bin Laden. I didn't realize that Bin Laden was in Iraq.  In fact, the facts are Al Qaeda was not in Iraq until after the US invaded the country and failed to secure the borders with countries like Saudi Arabia. We aren't putting enough REAL resources into the area where there really is a threat like Afghanistan. We have a minimal presence in Afghanistan while the Taliban is rapidly rebuilding in their numbers.
Why can't we say…we have accomplished everything we set out to do, We can not or will not referree sectarian violence and bring our troops home.  Why is that dishonorable?   Why is it Surrender if we have accomplished the STATED GOALS!
We need to bring our troops home now so we can start rebuilding our military as well as our position in the world UNLESS there is a VALID reason to stay.  To say Americans are dying in Iraq in the name of terrorism in no longer acceptable to the majority of the American people.
There will always be terrorism in the Middle East until the issues at the root of the problem are addressed such as high unemployment, distribution of wealth, etc.  Our precense in Iraq is not saving lives.  In fact its accomplishing quite the opposite of everything that Bush says he wants to accomplish. Repeating the same procedure and expecting different results is nothing more than madness. If we really want to support our troops, we will DEMAND THE MADNESS STOP IMMEDIATELY!  Before any more American lives are wasted. Otherwise their blood is not just on Bush's hands but it is also on our hands as well.
