Violating the Purpose of the 22nd Amendment

Violating the Purpose of the 22nd Amendment 2013-05-09T06:09:16-06:00

The 22nd amendment isn’t there to prevent power to an individual as much as that individual working in concert with established government connections. Having political connections in Florida and the Supreme Court certainly didn’t hurt our current President in his 2000 victory over Al Gore.

.  In practicality, George Bush’s second term was a third term for his immediate family and a violation of the purpose of the 22nd amendment. Hillary Clinton’s election would violate the same principle. I was raised by a single mom and as a consequence have much respect for women. In my mind, women are equal to men in all areas that really matter. I’m anxious for a women president, but not like this. Someone shouldn’t benefit from having a popular name. You need look no further than the current president as evidence for that. Someone also shouldn’t be elected or not elected because of their gender, race, name et cetera. Scripture states “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:24 To keep electing people from the same political family is one of the unhealthiest things we can do as a country. When will this stop? Do we skip a term and then elect Jeb Bush. Do we elect the children of the Clinton’s and Bush’s down the road? The presidency of the United States isn’t American Idol, but it smells like American Idol worship to me and it stinks.
