Update (9/5/2013): The person who tweeted the rumor about Mariah’s tuition being comped contacted Faith Goes Pop and asked us to remove the tweet from this post. The tweeter wrote, “Mariah is a nice girl. I do not want to make her life harder because of a inaccurate and inappropriate rumor being spread.” The tweet has been deleted from his/her account and also from this post. On this season of Sister Wives, we’re getting lots of contrast between the way... Read more

After the well-known polygamist family the Dargers appeared on Sister Wives last season, it seemed like TLC was introducing them to the audience as prep for a show of their own. However, according to family patriarch Joe Darger says that it isn’t happening. According to Joe, TLC rejected their show My Three Wives, saying that it was too similar to Sister Wives. That’s pretty weird, considering the network had already filmed and aired commercials for the show before making the... Read more

Pastor Rodney Willis, who was the leader of Mt. Salem Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was removed from his position after he attended a Rick Ross concert. After hearing about Willis’ extracurricular activity, the church’s group of deacons voted to fire him. He found out what had happened when he showed up to the church on Sunday morning and his name had been taken off of his parking space. “We know that many saints will have mixed opinions from... Read more

The Westboro Baptist Church sometimes likes to take pop songs and rework them so that the lyrics are about WBC faves like hating gay people. However, their attempt to Weird Al-ify Ke$ha‘s song “We R Who We R” as “God H8s Who U R.” Rather than get mad, the singer decided to get even: she sent her backup dancers to a WBC protest in Nebraska, where they busted their best moves during the song. Yesterday was Kathie Lee Gifford‘s sixtieth birthday, and she spent most of her hour of The Today Show talking about other things she’d like to accomplish in her life. The topic of going back to school came up, and Kathie – who happens to be an evangelical Christian – admitted that she wanted to go to Yeshiva University and become a rabbi. Well, other than the fact that an Orthodox Jewish institution wouldn’t ordain a female rabbi and that Kathie... Read more

Erin Bates, one of the kids from Duggar family spinoff show United Bates of America, is engaged. Her mom, Kelly Bates, announced the news on the family’s blog earlier this week. After going through their religious group’s practice of courtship, Erin and Chad Paine officially got engaged. The two of them clearly have a lot in common – Chad is one of 12 kids, while Erin is one of 19. Erin is attending a Christian college and is a semester... Read more

Well, now we know what Josh Duggar is expected to do in exchange for that Family Research Council money. The 25-year-old GED holder and father of three was hired for a cushy job at the ultraconservative Christian lobbying group despite having almost no political experience, and now we have our first glimpse of what he’s doing at “work.” In this ad, Josh plugs FRC’s annual Values Voter Summit and makes it roughly three seconds before mentioning 19 Kids and Counting.... Read more

In Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody‘s directorial debut, Paradise, a young woman (Julianne Hough) finds herself questioning and challenging her Christian faith after she gets in a plane accident. The woman’s name is Lamb, in case you didn’t think there was enough religious symbolism going on here. The movie costars Octavia Spencer, Russell Brand, Holly Hunter, and Nick freaking Offerman, so, yeah, I’ll watch it. Read more

I’ve had a major crush on British actor Arthur Darvill since his days playing Rory on Doctor Who, but the UK series Broadchurch – which will air soon on BBC America and is getting an eventual American adaptation – made me appreciate his hotness on a whole new level. Broadchurch is a ten-episode series about the murder of an eleven-year-old boy in a seaside town in Dorset. There are plenty of red herrings and people with mysterious pasts living in... Read more

I can’t really add anything to this picture. Suffice it to say that Farrah Abraham‘s story of teen-mom-turned-Teen Mom-turned-porn-star is going to make a hell of a Lifetime movie someday. Read more
