I told you so

I remembered something. . . .Back when this blog was at its old site, when it was still with WORLD, a full three years ago, I wrote this, in a post about how Tommy Thompson, for all of his accomplishments, didn’t have a chance at the presidency, but that a certain inexperienced but charismatic senator did:

I believe Obama has a lock on the Democratic nomination and has a very good chance of winning the presidency. (December 18, 2006)

That was over a year before the Iowa caucus, when candidates were just announcing that they were running. (Check it here, but you’ll need to do a search for “Tommy.”) I recall commenters dismissing what I said with derision. I don’t mean to brag. I’m just sayin’.

If only I believed in gambling! If only I had also predicted the financial collapse, pulled out my IRAs, and bet the lot on Obama winning! If I had done that, the odds would have been in my favor so much that I would now have as much in my retirement fund as I had then!
