Nina Daoud is a Ph.D. student in the Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy program at the University of Maryland, College Park. In this capacity, Nina pursues research related to race and equity in higher education, focusing on the experiences of underrepresented students. Specifically, her research primarily addresses two threads of scholarly inquiry: (1) diversity among Black collegians; and (2) college access and choice among students of color.

Nina’s research seeks to push boundaries around Black collegians by illuminating the gender, ethnic, and religious diversity among this population. Her training in advanced qualitative methodologies has enabled her to work on numerous research projects in this area, many of which have been presented at the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) and American Education Research Association (AERA) annual meetings, as well as accepted for publication in numerous books and peer-reviewed journals. You may find some of these publications here.

Presently, Nina is completing her dissertation, which is a qualitative study on the experiences of Black Muslim women in college as they navigate their racial, religious, and gender identities in today’s social context. She also works as a Research Associate at the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education at the University of Pennsylvania, where she conducts research related to campus climate and is spearheading a virtual summit on combating Islamophobia in education.

Nina holds an M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Biology and Society from Cornell University.
