2 Samuel 10: The Lord Will Do What Is Right

2 Samuel 10: The Lord Will Do What Is Right January 22, 2013

Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight. -2 Samuel 10:12

Even the military commander Joab knew God held sovereign control over his victory. Rather than depend on only his own strength, he acknowledge the Lord’s supernatural power over his situation.

On the other hand, Joab also didn’t tell his soldiers to lay down their weapons and pray. He challenged them to be strong and to fight bravely.

This combination speaks strongly to our predicaments as well.

God in is complete control of our lives and will work according to his perfect will. But this doesn’t mean he wants us to do nothing. Instead, he often commands believers to do certain things that are consistent with his ways. We are to love one another, including our enemies. We are to help those in need, work hard, pray, honor God, care for our family, share the Gospel, and much more.

So don’t quit. But also don’t try to do in on your own. As the apostle Paul asked, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” No matter what you face, God is there with just the right outcome. All he asks is that we give our best in serving him today.
