Deuteronomy 8: Do Not Forget the Lord

Deuteronomy 8: Do Not Forget the Lord 2012-08-10T10:56:28-04:00

“Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God…” -Deuteronomy 8:11

If there is one spiritual message America needs, it can be found in Deuteronomy 8:11: “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God.” Just as Moses foretold of Israel, when life goes well, the temptation is to forget who provided the blessing and live as though our possessions are the result of our own goodness. Worse, we can find ourselves feeling we deserve what we have or are entitled to it rather than walking in thankfulness and worship of God.

While it’s easy to point out the problems of our nation as a whole, it’s much more convicting to talk about our own weaknesses. Do you take credit for the good things that have happened to you? Do you feel like you “deserve” what you have? Have you forgotten God?

If so, make time today to remember. Remember who provides. Remember what your life would be like without the blessings of God. Most of all, remember to put him first in all things. Do not forget the Lord.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
