Deuteronomy 9: Bigger Than You

Deuteronomy 9: Bigger Than You 2012-08-13T13:36:28-04:00

Do not say to yourself, “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.”-Deuteronomy 9:4

Israel was blessed. Chosen by God as his people, the Lord drove out other nations to provide a land as their nation. But before he sent them across the Jordan River to possess the land, he gave a warning.

What was this warning? Not to think the victory came from their own power. God was the source of their strength. To think otherwise would be foolish.

Don’t we fall to the same temptation today? God blesses, and we quickly say, “Look what I did!” However, all such pride is short lived and fails to recognize God as the source of our strength. Today, if this is your temptation, don’t forget what God warned the Israelites. God is your strength. Give glory to Him and only Him.
