Joshua 21: God Keeps His Promises

Joshua 21: God Keeps His Promises 2012-10-16T09:23:51-04:00

“Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” -Joshua 21:45

As Joshua wrapped up his words regarding the land allotted for each tribe of Israel, we read these words: “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” After 400 years of slavery, 40 years in the wilderness, and a few years of war in the promised land, I’m certain there were times the Israelites questioned and doubted whether God would come through on his promises. In the end, he did.

The same remains true today.

God sent Jesus to provide both eternal life (John 3:16) and abundant life now (John 10:10). Yet we often feel we are missing out, like the party is behind a door we cannot find. Yet if we have come to faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives in us. There is no other blessing we need to seek or hoop we must jump through. God is living in us and through us.

Of course, we don’t always feel this way. Like the Israelites, time passes and we wonder whether God is true to his word. But a look at Scripture highlights that God always keeps his promises. Do not be discouraged or dismayed. The Lord God is with you today.
