If your reality is not in agreement with your expectations, you have two choices. The easiest choice is to lower your expectations so they’re more in line with your reality. But that’s a compromise. After all, you created those expectations in the first place. There was a reason why. There was something in you that led you to expect the best of yourself. Does it really accomplish anything to turn your back on that?
The other, more difficult choice is to lift up your reality to meet your expectations. That will take effort and commitment, and yet with that effort and commitment and the achievement they bring will also come empowerment. Instead of settling for whatever life hands you, you will have found the strength to live according to your own best expectations.
Whatever you expect, you will indeed experience. However, for that to work, you must hold on to those high expectations, and not let them slip down to a lower level. Your expectations send a strong message to yourself as well as to those around you. Choose to keep them high. Instead of compromising your expectations, do whatever it takes to fulfill them. They’re yours for a reason. Respect that reason, continually re-commit to it, and live the reality of your highest expectations.
