Lenten Reflections from the Executed: #495 Ronnie Threadgill / April 16, 2013

*These reflections are taken from pieces of the last words of the last 40 persons executed in Texas.

Ronnie Threadgill-

Texas Execution

“I am going to a better place.”

I can think of no more depressing of a place to be than lying on a gurney and waiting to die. With the executioners swarming, Ronnie Threadgill wanted everyone to know that he was going to a better place. How often do we live our lives consumed with all of the morbid and depressing shit going on all around us and forget that we are going to a better place? Look to the sky my friends! God has given us the ability to imagine the fruition of all our hopes and dreams for a reason.

No matter what you are going through, I invite you to pray the last words of Ronnie Threadgill:

“I am going to a better place.”

Amen.
