Hi guys. The letter below is from a good woman I know. It doesn’t describe 1/100th of what she does out of love for her fiancé. Please help this young couple if you can. And you absolutely can, no matter what, by maximally sharing this post—and especially this link. Please do that, a lot. The dogs you’ll read about below cost serious money to maintain and train—and the visionary who does that work has already given these kids so many... Read more

John, you’re brilliant. Have you ever written about what gives you faith? Why you actually believe in God? I can’t seem to find any writings on your blog about that. If you have them, do you mind pointing us in that direction? If not…. Please… Give us some hope. (more…) Read more

As a progressive Christian in the red state of Kentucky, I struggle with separating my belief in Jesus from the conservative, hellfire Christians I am surrounded by everywhere I look. My religious neighbors have so nicely informed me that yoga is spiritually dangerous and that Obama is a Muslim from Kenya. How do I not hate Christians? I find myself wanting to no part of the label Christian! (more…) Read more

So I got in an email asking how I manage to be “so ridiculously creative!!!” I didn’t want to respond to that via a blog post, because even I’m not so arrogant that I don’t grasp how repulsively pretentious it is for anyone to write about why they’re so creative. (more…) Read more

I’m 21, a Southern Baptist raised, but with an open heart. I was “saved” in 4th grade, baptized in 6th. Yet . . .  I’ve been a lukewarm Christian most of my life. Good kid, good grades, didn’t use any drugs or alcohol till I was 16/17. Nor did I have a strong relationship with God. (more…) Read more

So by way of a ceremony that began around 3 p.m. on Saturday in my best friend Pastor Bob’s Church, in which Rev. David Stambaugh, associate pastor of the United Methodist Church of Hollywood served as officiant, I was ordained in accordance with the constitution and canons of the Progressive Christian Alliance as a Pastor in Christ’s Church. The whole experience was one of those extremely rare affairs that are so obviously magical and ridiculously perfect that all you can... Read more

So for a couple of years now Roger McClellan, founder of the The Progressive Christian Alliance, has offered to recommend me to the PCA leadership counsel for ordination as a PCA pastor. (more…) Read more

Dear John, A good friend of mine suggested I contact you. I am now at the end of a five-year relationship and I am feeling lost as to what happened. We have had no fights, no disagreements, no infidelity. Just all of a sudden, it is over. I came home yesterday to a “Dear John” letter, asking me to move out. (more…) Read more
