Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done a Monday Musing post. #Oops In case you’re wondering, “What’s Monday Musings?” – I started it as a time each Monday where I could share random thoughts, things that were making me smile, songs I like, etc. Basically, whatever was on my mind that Monday. Which, knowing my mind, could be absolutely anything! 😉 First of all…   November made a grand arrival with chilly temperatures in D.C. I am not a fan of... Read more

I absolutely adore the month of October! There weather is still quite pleasant, but it’s beginning to get nice and crisp.  Sweaters, boots and scarves are unpacked and lovingly worn, while strolling around the Hill, sipping on coffee and enjoying the fall leaves! My October was filled with excitement, a trip to the Midwest, and lots and lots of work! Things have been quite busy around the office recently, which has meant longer days! Even though October has been busy,... Read more

Recently, I was invited to be a guest at benefit gala for a local pregnancy center in D.C., and felt like Cinderella the entire evening! Caroline, my friend, former co-worker and roommate was in town for the weekend and I invited her to come as my plus one for the evening. We had an absolutely perfect Saturday. After sleeping in until about 9:00 a.m., we had a quiet morning at home for a few hours, finally our tummies reminded us that... Read more

This morning was one of the kinds of mornings that I absolutely adore. I woke up at the crack of dawn and hopped out of bed, grabbed my Bible and spent time with my Lord. After that, I laced up my sneakers and headed out the door for a run around DC. Everything was still dark, but I enjoyed running and meditating on what I had read. I wanted to share from Spurgeon’s Morning by Morning. My heart was encouraged, and I hope... Read more

I thought it would be fun to share some little known facts about myself. Those closet to me probably know these things, but I though I’d let ya’ll get to know me a little bit better! 🙂 I’m an introvert! Most people don’t believe them when I tell them that. My personality is naturally very outgoing and I absolutely adore people, however I need regular time away from people to recharge, think through things and enjoy the alone time. Introverts are typically thought... Read more

September was probably one of the busiest months I’ve had to date. While I’m exhausted as I type these words, I could not be more thankful for all of the incredible opportunities I’ve had. If you’re new to what the joy project is, read all about it here.     Enjoy!   1. Labor Day! My official hashtag for Labor Day was #NotLaboring 😉 Clever right?! The day started off nice and slow. I sat on the sofa, drank coffee... Read more

This morning, I took an extra hour and snuggled down into my blankets with a cup of coffee to spend a prolonged time with my Father. I read the following “letter” from Ann Voskamp. The words danced from the page straight into my soul and I wanted to share it with you!   Dear you, Dear Self and me and you and us, Really, it’s all going to be okay. You’re going to be okay. Promise. You don’t have to... Read more

In the past, when people talked about contentment, I used to get annoyed and aggravated. Usually I would roll my eyes, paste on a smile and show insincere interest! Horrible I know, but hey, at least I’m being honest! As bad as this is to admit, I’ve always equated contentment as something that is dull, uninteresting and undesirable. I want to be the girl who’s adventurous, full of life, charismatic, and joyful! Until now, I could not reconcile how being... Read more

Last week I escaped to Orlando, Florida for a few days to spend time with my family. Awhile ago, my parents told me that they were surprising my youngest sisters with a trip down to Florida. Our family has a timeshare with Disney, and it’s been an incredibly difficult summer for the family. We needed some time together as a family and to get away for a few days. On my flight out of D.C., we flew right by the Pentagon... Read more

Yesterday, I had the incredible privilege of touring the West Wing of the White House. A friend of mine (who works for Senator Cruz) has a contact from grad school who works for the Obama Administration. He has the ability to give private tours of the West Wing, and invited my friend, who in turn invited me a few other people to join. I was ecstatic to be invited! I slipped on a pretty black dress, put on a pearl necklace... Read more
