Those of you who have read the memoir might recall the chapter “Dublin Doings”.
Mama moved us from Columbus to Dublin, one very hot Georgia summer, so she could work at the Carl Vinson VA Hospital.
As Forrest Gump once said: That’s all I got to say about that.
Mama says the hospital was so large they rode golf carts between buildings. It’s even bigger now. There isn’t a one of us kids who has any happy memories of this town. We weren’t there long enough to make friends, but we were there long enough to feel like we never would.
Some places are a Bubba kind of town.
And you thought it was still winter.
You ever get a hankering to rob a truck?
And then there’s this, which doesn’t seen appetizing to me at all. More like heavy metal.
Sometimes a girl just has to get off the road, breathe in a little ocean air.
