In a display of how far Christmas has veered off course from the babe in a manager days, the Arabs have splurged on an $11 million Christmas tree (next time you wonder why it costs so much to fill up at the gas station, you might want to consider this). The $10,000 fake tree, adorned with millions in jewelry, gold, is located in the lobby of the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
If you think the whole idea of a Christian celebration taking place in an Arab country is a bit odd, you should know that these are Liberal Arabs. And Christmas has long been co-opted by Capitalists, which may be the very thing these liberal Arabs are celebrating.
