21 Years Married: 2 Crucial Reasons

 Hear what I’m not saying: it ain’t been perfect. We have failed each other countless times. Sometimes big, mostly small. So just know I’m not trying to paint this all rosy.

Do we have a secret to our success? Several, actually, and none of which depends on one of us individually. I’ll share two:

1. We share a faith in Jesus. We confess to trusting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and to raising our kids to know and love God. Such a strong foundation for when life goes sideways, because it means we have grace!
2. We attempt to believe the best of each other until proven wrong. On a daily basis, this attitude prevents many unnecessary conflicts and builds up the other person, adding a warm, comforting layer of security around a relationship. I highly recommend it in all marriages and close friendships.
