Putin Threatens the U.S. for Arming of Ukraine April 27, 2022

As Russia’s unprovoked aggression against its democratic neighbor Ukraine intensifies, Russian President Vladimir Putin is threatening the U.S. for its arming of Ukraine. He says the U.S. is thereby fighting against Russia in proxy. But it’s not just the U.S. A total of 40 countries are now coordinating arms shipments to Ukraine in its heroic effort to try to stave off Russia, often depicted as a “bear.” So, if Putin accuses the U.S. of fighting Russia by delivering arms to Ukraine, he’s got to say it of all 40 countries.

In fact, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has been talking about the possibility of Russia’s “special military operation”–as Putin demands that it be called rather than a war–developing into World War III. Well, if Russia uses nuclear weapons against Ukraine or any other country, I think that will indeed bring on WWIII.

Both Putin and Lavrov have been talking about, even vaguely threatening with, the possible use of nuclear arms in the Ukraine war or against those nations supporting Ukraine. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said yesterday such “loose talk” about using nuclear weapons is “irresponsible.” He met with leaders of 40 countries in Germany this week to discuss Putin’s War in Ukraine.

Also this week, both Austin and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said they, or the U.S., would like to see Russia “weakened” due to its aggression against Ukraine. Did they really need to say that? Okay it private, but not as a public statement. That’s the main reason how Putin justifies his attack on Ukraine, saying the West denigrates Russia which used to be such a great power. Putin envisions Russia returning to the supposed glory days of the Soviet Union when it and the U.S. were the only two superpowers. It seems to me that saying that about the U.S. weakening Russia only adds fuel to the fire for Putin’s deranged narrative that causes him to bully and bluster and attack others.
