The Republican Party Is as Phony as a Three Dollar Bill

The Republican Party Is as Phony as a Three Dollar Bill 2021-05-28T19:42:39-07:00

I’ve said it before, since Trump became President. (See some previous posts, “The Republican Party’s Reputation Is Shot to Hell” [April 23, 2019]; “Republicans–Three Strikes and You’re Out” [October 4, 2019]. And I’m saying it even more strongly now.

Yesterday, Senate Republicans successfully voted to block the establishment of a commission panel to investigate the Capitol riot January 6th. That is such a shame. It is a dereliction of duty. Even though this nation has become so politically bipartisan,  a significant majority of the American people want to know what happened on January 6th, what caused the riot, and what can be done to prevent it, or something like it, in the future.

Top Republican lawmakers Senator Mitch McConnell and Representative Kevin McCarthy, in my opinion, are blind and care mostly about securing political power and thus not getting to the truth about what happened January 6th. It was a travesty on our democracy, and its cause started with former President Donald Trump who was saying then, and has kept on saying to this very day, “the big lie” that he did not lose the election, but that it was stolen from him. McConnell and McCarthy don’t want American voters to hear additional information, mostly from witnesses, about how then President Trump stirred up the crowd to commit insurrection against our nation by endangering all 535 members of Congress that day. It resulted in five deaths and 140 Capitol Police officers injured, officers who sacrificed their lives to protect Congressmen such as McConnell and McCarthy. What a bunch of phonies–these Republicans.
