Trinitarians typically claim that they rely upon the Bible for their theology. I posted two days ago, “What Makes Christianity Christian?” This post begins, “Christian pastor and author Kevin DeYoung, senior pastor at Christ Covenant Church (I don’t know where), says of the doctrine of the Trinity, “If any doctrine makes Christianity Christian, then surely it is the doctrine of the Trinity. The three great ecumenical creeds–the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed–are all structured around our... Read more

In one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, Tiger Woods won the PGA Tour Championship just now at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, by two strokes over Billy Horschel, who came from well back to shoot 65. A few years ago, Tiger Woods, with 14 major championships wins, was headed toward beating Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major wins. Then all kinds of trouble hit the Tiger, including injuries, surgeries, and other problems that so derailed his... Read more

I am not a Democrat. I have voted almost all Republican all of my life. But I have blogged lately about how upset I am about how the Republican Party in recent years has changed for the worse, in my opinion. It is not only Donald Trump–he is a symptom. The Senate Judiciary Committee is about to vote on President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the empty seat on the Supreme Court. This is a really important decision... Read more

Tiger Woods started the third round today tied for the lead in the PGA Tour Championship. He shot a 5-under par 65 at East Lake in Atlanta to end the day with a three stroke lead over Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose. Rose is the #1 golfer in World Ranking right now, which he just gained days ago. Yet Tiger held that ranking an astonishing 13 years until his slide downhill to mediocrity due to injuries, surgeries, and other problems... Read more

Christian pastor and author Kevin DeYoung, senior pastor at Christ Covenant Church (I don’t know where), says of the doctrine of the Trinity, “If any doctrine makes Christianity Christian, then surely it is the doctrine of the Trinity. The three great ecumenical creeds–the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed–are all structured around our three-in-one God, underlying the essential importance of Trinitarian theology.” No way! I was a Trinitarian for 22 years. Then I saw the light in... Read more

As author of The Restitution of Jesus Christ (2008), I used the pseudonym Servetus the Evangelical. I created it based on Michael Servetus. (This book is available at kermitzarley.com.) The following is an excerpt about him from my book: Michael Servetus That man was Michael Servetus (Sp. Miguel Serveto Conesa, 1511-1553).[1] Born in Villeneu[f]ve, Spain, to a devoted Catholic family of nobility, his father was a notary and his mother was a Jew. A child prodigy, he grew up in... Read more

A win, that is, as in many $$$ signs and social consciousness. Nike just announced the online sales of its products have increased 65% since it came out with its marketing campaign this year making Colin Kaepernik the face of its ten-year celebration logo–JUST DO IT! It was a bold and controversial decision. Many people thought it was a mistake and that Nike would suffer financially for it. In case you have been absent from this planet lately, and thus... Read more

A major theme of the Gospel of John in the Bible’s New Testament is that it relates incidents in which Jesus was asked who he was. For example, Jesus was asked, “Who are you?” “Who do you claim to be?” “If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly” (Jn 8.25; 8.53; 10.24). Sometimes, he answered (Jn 10.24-30; 18.33-38; cf. Matt. 26.63-64). One such incident is recorded in John 8. (Bible quotations are from the NRSV unless otherwise noted). We read that... Read more

Keegan Bradley finally won his fourth PGA Tour tournament after a six-year drought. He defeated Justin Rose on the first extra hole in a sudden-death playoff to win the BMW Championship. The rain-plagued event had to go an extra day–to Monday. Both players finished regulation 72 holes on the Aronimink Golf Club just outside Philadelphia at 20-under par 260 total. On the first extra hole, the par four, 463-yard, uphill, 18th hole, both players hit their second shots onto the... Read more

In the four New Testament gospels, Jesus never claimed to be God. Twice he was accused of indirectly doing so. Many Trinitarian Christians are wrongly taught that those Jews who so accused Jesus were right in doing so. John 5.18 relates that Jews thought of Jesus was “making himself equal to God.” But their basis for thinking this was that “he was not only breaking the sabbath” for healing someone on the sabbath, “but was also calling God his Father.”... Read more
