Metropolitan K.P. Yohannan on God’s Calling Vs. Our Reality

WILLS POINT, TX – Metropolitan KP Yohannan, founder of Gospel for Asia (GFA World), which has been the model for numerous charities like Gospel for Asia Canada, reflects on God’s Calling for us, the reality we struggle with amid a carnal world, and the daily choices we must make to demonstrate Christ to the world.

An authentic Christ-filled life is not reserved only for church heroes and super-saints. It is not something that happens only in faraway foreign countries like Zimbabwe or India or Guatemala, or in the pages of the Bible. It must and will blossom forth right on the street where you live, in your department at work, in your school. It is for every believer, whatever your calling or circumstances.

But until we decide to make a choice about how we shall live within the short time we have left on earth, the situation is grave. Individually and collectively, we are like children—enticed by the fleeting pleasures of money, materialism and self-indulgence, all while being captured by forces we cannot control or understand. The world is dictating its standards to us, and believers have been taken captive by the powers of the enemy.

God’s Calling: The Body of Christ exercising spiritual authority over the powers of this world.

Our Reality: The world is dictating its sordid standards to us.

God’s Calling: Manifesting the life and power of Christ.

Our Reality: We’re living in captivity and bondage.

God’s Calling: Raiding the gates of hell.

Our Reality: We’re falling over one another in retreat—looking for foxholes, hiding from the Enemy.

Why is the church of God in retreat before the world, the flesh and the devil? Will we ever again be able to display the glorious, unifying love of the living Christ? Will this dying world ever see Jesus in us again?

My answer is yes—a thousand times, yes!

Changing Reality

There is a way out of this mess. We don’t have to remain living in powerless, insipid hypocrisy. God has ordained for us to demonstrate Christ to this dying world. He wills for us to have victory. He wants us to recover our lost authority and live again as He did.

Jesus wants to extend Himself into your world. However, for this miracle of abundant life to happen, you must make daily choices. God will never force you to walk the road to spiritual reality. It is a journey you must decide to begin personally.
