Sweet Tweets for 8/15/14 — Assumption, Korea, RIP Robin & More

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary as we watch Pope Francis’ historic visit to Korea and pray for the ongoing strife in the Holy Land and Iraq and Syria. Closer to home, many of us grieved this week with the death of Robin Williams. So many needs, such pain, so few answers. When we are tempted to despair, we do well to remember Pope Francis’ beseeching of our Blessed Mother, “Mary, Queen of Heaven, help us to transform the world according to God’s plan.”

St. Philip Neri is known as “The Humourous Saint” and was quoted as saying, “Cheerfulness strengthens the heart and makes us persevere in a good life. Therefore the servant of God ought always to be in good spirits.”  Robin Williams was a modern “saint” of our times who offered us joy and humor, and also provided many acts of mercy helping the weak, sick, and poor in society — he will be greatly missed.
