Thanksgiving Open Thread!

How’s your Thanksgiving going? Did you travel? What are you cooking? Are you with relatives? Are you avoiding relatives? How do you handle the holiday’s colonialist genocidal roots? Let’s talk!

My youngest came home from school last week talking about the party the pilgrims had with the Indians, and how they were all friends. How fun! It’s too bad such great friends don’t always stay that way, because let’s just say they didn’t. My very European ancestors were in New England back then too, which means they participated in what definitely became an attempted genocide.

This Thanksgiving I’ll be giving thanks for the midterms—and working very hard not to talk politics with my Trump-loving relatives. At least we can all agree on a mutual love of good food.
