PETA Outparodies Itself

Save the Sea Kittens!

It’s curious that Darwinism has, sort of like gnosticism, spawned two diametrically opposed moral systems.

Gnosticism posited a complete split between the spiritual and physical worlds. Spirit was good, body bad. Two moral systems came from this. One said, “The body is worthless, so treat it like a piece of crap.” The other said, “The body is worthless, so you can do whatever you like with it, my lad! Wheeeeee!!!!!”

Darwinism has tended to create something analogous. One says, “Humans are no different than any other animal. So let’s experiment on them, chop them up for spare parts, and treat them like old dogs when they get inconvenient.” The other says, “Human are no different than any other animal. So let’s treat every animal as a creature which is as close to being human as possible. Let’s give rights to chimps, dress dogs in clothes, and tear our hearts out in compassion for the feelings of the salmon.”

It seems to be a long-standing pattern with that mindset, producing Nazis who could slaughter by the millions, but feel deep sympathy for their German Shepherds.
