It’s not just anti-semitism that has infected conservative Catholicism

Here’s an oldie but a goody:

I thought of that cartoon as the man who used to be Patrick Coffin, fresh from ginning up nutty conspiracy theories about the pope (which Dawn Eden Goldstein recently chronicled) decided to favor us with this deeply Catholic and definitely not racist observation that certainly has nothing to do with the trope about black people having lots of different baby daddies and certainly does not feed the nutty conspiracy theory that Michelle Obama is actually a man:

I have no idea where he gets this from since they both resemble their parents to me and I have never, till this second, heard anybody ever mutter that “no one wants to admit” otherwise.  But then I lack the clear vision of the Conspiracy Theorist Who Is Also Just Asking Questions About Whether Francis is Really the Pope.  His readers are quick to put 2+2 to together though:

Does Coffin rebuke this nuttiness?  Of course not!  He rebukes people calling him out for his skanky and racist weirdness:

Um, I dispute it and have no idea where you get this idea the girls don’t look like their parents other than just pulling it out of your butt.  I’m particularly amused that you couch your ugly insinuation in the language of courage, as grave sinners always do.  It’s not that (as he says below) “no one is permitted” to say such a vile dumbass thing.  It’s that decent people don’t say vile dumbass things. But Coffin doubles down:

And when his racist fanboi chime in…

… he has nothing to say.

He does, however, have condescending words for when a priest calls him out on his ugly smear:

And he simply offers bald-faced lies as well:

This is a lie too:

His infallibility cannot be questioned as he lies to his reader’s face:

And he returns insults even for people who are not big fans of Obama but who recognize malignant racism when they see it:

And then, after admitting not the slightest trace of wrongdoing, he suddenly takes the whole thing down and puts up this embarrassing self-justification:

The falsity of this entire set of comments is so breathtaking that I have nothing to add, except this:

The Church reproves, as foreign to the mind of Christ, any discrimination against men or harassment of them because of their race, color, condition of life, or religion. On the contrary, following in the footsteps of the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, this sacred synod ardently implores the Christian faithful to “maintain good fellowship among the nations” (1 Peter 2:12), and, if possible, to live for their part in peace with all men, so that they may truly be sons of the Father who is in heaven.

The exaltation of conservative Catholic Shock Jocks and Celebrity Catholic Folk Heroes over the Magisterium is nothing but toxic.  Reject Culture War filth and embrace the Tradition which rejects this racist bilge.
