Geez you can’t make this stuff up! Well, Pat Robertson can and does. What he actually said in the New York Times was: “The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.” Yep. He said that. He said it a while ago but he still believes it. He didn’t actually use the word “idiot”... Read more

A young girl who likes my cartoons wanted to know how I drew them, so I did a video to show her. I hope this helps Shena! Read more

This is a true story! An east Indian, Dashrath Manjhi, lost his wife to illness when the nearest doctor could not reach them on time. The only way for the doctor in the nearest town could attend the people of Dashrath’s village was to travel around a mountain range, a distance of 75 kilometers. So to make sure this didn’t happen again, Dashrath carved a road through the mountain. He did it with his own bare hands, working night and... Read more

I wrote this meditation for The Lasting Supper, and it’s been stuck in my craw ever since. So I felt I should share it with you. While I was walking my dog this morning in the warm sunlit air along the river I was thinking about how what I call the z-theory is basically trinitarian in structure. I’m trying to articulate this theory because it helps me understand why I can be a Christian and an Atheist at the same... Read more

You see this tree, how beautiful he is. He is very tall and stands in a nearby forest. I’ve looked at him many many times. But I just notice him recently. Why did I just notice this tree? I don’t really know, but I love him and think he is so beautiful. He is not perfect. There are broken branches everywhere, and he is sparse here and there. He is top-heavy. But he is uniquely beautiful just as he is!... Read more

He has also issued an apology for all the pain and hurt many have experienced at the hands of this ministry. You can read a news article here, as well as Exodus International’s own announcement, along with Chambers’ apology, here. Yes! I’ve launched The Lasting Supper Podcast! Basically, the content is me interviewing members of The Lasting Supper online community, as well as others who are interested in spiritual freedom and independence. Many of the members have agreed to make their interviews publicly available. But many of the podcasts will be private for members only because of the sensitive information that members share. So if you want to get the whole range of interviews and actually connect with these people,... Read more

Sometimes praying is more like prying. Be careful what you share at prayer meetings. The offer of intimate fellowship is intoxicating and can make you confess things you may regret later. If you confess anything about your lack of faith, finances, sexuality, questions… chances are that others will miraculously find out about it. Or, if the confessions are serious enough it may cost you the level of privilege that you now enjoy. Some people will not be able to help... Read more

So why do people with religious experiences assert that their feelings of God’s presence are valid and believable, but when another person who has never experienced God admits this, they are told that they shouldn’t trust their feelings, the implication being that their feelings are lying to them about the reality of God’s existence and personal presence in their lives? I’m intimately familiar with this line of reasoning. I used it. There is no proof of God. For some reason... Read more

I can’t count how many times I’ve heard this attitude communicated by church leaders, itinerant preachers and teachers. They don’t come right out and say this but it is certainly conveyed. When a man or woman says something like, “God gave me a message for you”, my experience is that most people will do or pay anything to hear it. Heck, I’ve been at the receiving end of that myself. It’s desperation. Desperation to hear from God. Desperation to find... Read more
