Harmful Quiverfull Theology Hidden in Politics: Amy Coney Barrett

There are times when it feels like America is starting to slide inevitably into the world of Gilead.Β  Hulu’s television show β€˜The Handmaid’s Tale’ is feeling more like a coming reality in our politics. Just look at one of the front-runners to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Kennedy. There is harmful quiverfull theology hidden in the politics of Amy Coney Barrett.

From an article at The Politics Maven website:

This is especially concerning in light of the fact that the Evangelical Quiverfull crowd has been seeking to end rights for women. Not just the option of choice in abortion, but all birth control. Having someone with these types of religious beliefs on the Supreme Court almost assures us that all reproductive rights would end for women. We’d be going back to a time before birth control when a woman’s options were only a few folk remedies or a back alley abortion.

It’s not that long of a skip to forced maternity and the terrifying world of Gilead.
