Communists Take Over Public Schools?

Haven’t looked at Lori Alexander’s blog The Transformed Wife lately because most of the crazy toxic things happen in the chat room. In the chatroom they’ve been discussing super unreal things involving public schools.

Lori, for all her time beingΒ  a public school teacher, is extremely anti public school. She never mentions if private schools are good, only that homeschooling is the only way. Funny, because can you really call it homeschooling if you bring other people into your home for the express purpose of teaching your children?

But it wasn’t Lori’s denigration of public education that caught my eye. No sirree! It was this:

Communists?? Why are Evangelicals still obsessed about a political system that barely even still exists except in some doddering shambling ways?

Actually, Lori is off by about three decades. In 1962 mandatory Bible reading and school prayer was ruled unconstitutional and stopped in many schools. It had nothing to do with communism, or Satan, and wasn’t a plot to bring in the Reds. It was merely reflecting a reality of our melting pot nation – that not everyone was a white Protestant.

Do you know what big development happened in 1993 in schools? There were more school shootings. This was just one of many.

Plus it was when the new era of contemporary Communism in the USSR happened, which wasn’t a bad thing. It brought much more freedom to places formerly tightly controlled.

Lori does not know the history of what she’s spouting at all. You know they say about people that refuse to learn history, that they are doomed to repeat it.

She also does not seem to realize as long as there are pop quizzes in Algebra there will always be prayer in school.
