Lori Alexander and the Brain Tumor

Lori Alexander and the Brain Tumor September 18, 2020

Sad news today, and I have nothing snarky or mean or sarcastic to say for once. Late last night in Lori Alexander’s private chatroom she made this disturbing announcement.

This morning I awoke to Lori’s words on her blog explaining about the tumor and what has to happen next. The brain tumor story in the past was not entirely clear, I remember talk of multiple tumors, surgeries, radiation, and her claiming that she had so much faith in God she’d stopped going in for scans. This is what I was sadly sure would happen, a return eventually because many times these things come back.

“It’s been an almost 17 year journey with this brain tumor now. It began when I was 45 years old when I had my first brain surgery. They were able to remove it all but it grew completely back nine years later so I had to have another brain surgery. It’s a meningioma which is not cancer, but it can still be deadly. The substance of it had changed the second time and the surgeon was only able to get a small portion of the tumor, so I had to go for five days of Cyber Knife. This time, I will go for 25 days of something similar. It is so many more days since they can’t give me such high doses of radiation, because I have already had it once.”

25 days of radiation is not exactly the most fun thing you could be doing. I pray she tolerates it well. Having radiation and chemotherapy is not something I would wish on anyone. It’s rough at best.

Regardless as to what our feelings are about her theology, and much of it I find is awful, I am hoping for a good outcome.  Believe it or not, I am saddened by this news and pray she finds the comfort, love, and support of her family during this time. 2020 has really been just the worst year, hasn’t it?
