The Presidential Debates – What the Heck Did I Just Watch?

Dear Jill, how on earth can you hold the view that Trump functioned well and in a presidential fashion at the first debate yesterday?

We saw him promote violence at polling places. He interrupted the other candidate and shouted over the debate moderator.  Trump literally refused to condemn white supremacists and racists when asked.  He made statements linking Biden to the violence in recent months that occurred on his own watch, before saying that white suburbs would be destroyed if Biden wins. All the racist dog whistles you could blow. Trump mocked Biden for wearing a mask and lied about the availability of vaccines.

It was easily one of the crazy things I’ve ever seen in my sixty years on this planet. I wasn’t the only one thinking that, Twitter exploded with people like Dan Rather and others in the mainstream media expressing the same shock, horror and disgust I did. They were describing it as ‘unhinged’, ‘off the rails’ and an ‘avalanche of lies’ among other things.

Biden didn’t come across well either, calling Trump a clown and a liar. No one won this thing, and civility took a butt-whipping. Biden wasn’t as quick on his feet with insults, and seemed shaken up more than once in the debate.

And here we have Jill Rodrigues, thrilled with the obvious lies, the threats of election day violence, the racist statements and other things that are diametrically opposed to the words of Christ.
