Transequinox Pastries

Transequinox Pastries August 7, 2014

You may be wondering, what the heck is Transequinox? Well, its one of the eight Solterra (solar-earth) events in a year, this one being midway the summer solstice and autumn equinox – transitioning toward the time of equal dark. In Borealis (Northern Hemisphere) it is experienced on Ciconii – Ardea 15th & 16th / August 5th & 6th. For Australis (Southern Hemisphere) is is experienced during Feliformia – Panthera 15th & 16th / February 3rd & 4th.

Most regions around the world experience this Solterra event as the hottest time of year and when fruit, especially berries, are ripe for the picking. For some Saegoahs this is also a time for celebrating our craft skills, athletics, courting, bonding ceremonies (weddings), grain and first fruit harvest – ideally this would culminate as a fair. But for personal or family level celebration there is one thing that we can all do – make pastries! Preferably going out and picking the ripe succulent fruit yourself and having all the ingredients be local.

The following is a basic medieval style pastry recipe that you can do at home:
