When I was in public office, I read scripture and prayed the Rosary every morning before going to work. I ended my morning devotions each day by praying the prayer I am going to post here.
It was written by St Pope John Paul II for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The moment I first heard it, I believed that it was a prayer for all people in these last days.
Our country appears to be on the moving toward dictatorship and physical as well as moral violence. Much of this chaos is being fueled by the horrible leadership of our elected officials, many of whom have shown themselves to be self-serving cowards without a drop of patriotism.
Our national leader is obviously incapable of doing the job he was elected to do. We are riven into warring factions by his failures and the tormenting voices of manipulation and propaganda which have stolen the capacity for reason from so many of our citizens.
At the same time, many of our most trusted religious leaders have become political operatives who refuse to preach and teach the basic moral values of the Ten Commandments, and who actively teach a false gospel which opposes the teachings in the actual Gospels. This false teaching directly seeks to refute the things that Jesus Christ Himself taught us with His own words.
They have created a false political idol and led their people to bow down before it. If Christ the Lord Himself walked into their churches today, they would cast Him out, revile and denounce Him, and say that He is not a Christian.
These false leaders have created a false christianity that does not know Jesus. Their teachings are of a political christianity which has no Christ, no Cross and no salvation.
Their teachings lead their flocks away from Christ to a false political altar. They instruct their flocks to drink the wine at a satanic communion of the political anti-Christ.
Now, in this time of increasing political and social peril, we are sheep without shepherds.
But we do have One Good Shepherd, We are not left alone. The Gospel that these false teachers seek to destroy is still the Gospel of Christ. We still have the clear guidance of the two-thousand-year-old teachings of the Catholic Church. The Cross still stands before us and Jesus still offers each of us redemption, salvation and eternal life.
There are, still, good shepherds who preach the truth of Christ and Him crucified. It is their call to do that.
It is our call, as the faithful laity, to exercise discernment and wisdom in who we follow in this world. We can choose to follow Christ, or we can choose to follow these lying prophets of a false political gospel. No matter how much we lie to ourselves and pretend to believe the propaganda, we know who these false prophets are. If we follow them, it is our free choice.
If you will follow Christ, then follow Christ and not the world. Ignore the false teachers who teach lies ab0ut what the Gospels say. Do not follow anyone who preaches a false gospel of hate, who tells you that you can walk past Lazarus and call it righteousness. Do not follow false teachers who tell you that the Ten Commandments do not apply to powerful politicians.
That is wrong, and you know it is wrong. If you follow these false teachers and turn your back on Christ, that is your choice. You have chosen.
I want to urge you to pray the prayer below. I am going to start praying it again every morning. Consecrate yourself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and follow her instructions concerning her Son. Do whatever he tells you.
Oh, Immaculate Heart! Help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths towards the future!
From famine and war, deliver us.
From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us.
From sins against the life of man from its very beginning, deliver us.
From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us.
From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us.
From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us.:
From attempts to stifle in human hearts the very truth of God, deliver us.
From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us.
Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies.
Let there be revealed, once more. in the history of the world your infinite power of merciful Love. May it put a stop to evil. May it transform consciences. May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of Hope.
