We are constantly being flogged and manipulated by the Mad King and his media.
The internet and cable news dump anger, resentment, fear, and chattering anxiety on us like volcanoes belching out sulphuric acid.
The dark propaganda of tyrants is designed to appeal to the prurient side of our psyches. It is seductive and addictive; a kind of hate porn that ruthless media people use to keep us coming back to them for another fix.
They make fortunes peddling hate porn, but, if we drink deeply and repeatedly of this poison, it will destroy us. It is a soul-killer, just like other kinds of pornography.
But there are simple and effective ways to cool the acid burn of that insanity. It’s simple, scriptural and deeply Christian.
The sincere practice of simple gratitude shuts down the cycle of hate and wrath like pouring baking soda into a battery. It stops it cold.
Instead of going off on some propaganda-induced tantrum and hate fest, take a moment.
Breathe.
And think.
Look around and let it sink into your fevered mind just how good you’ve got it.
I think it’s both profoundly touching and powerful that some of the first settlers to land on these shores held a feast to thank God for their survival.

That’s what they were thanking Him for, you know. Not wealth, fame and power. But survival.
They had a good harvest and that meant they were likely to make it through the winter. Their survival, while still uncertain, was at least reasonably secure for the hard, cold months ahead.
That was the first Thanksgiving, and it has become a unique American holiday. It says a lot about us as a people that the holidays which unite us revolve around our fight for independence and freedom and our gratitude for the ordinary stuff that makes up life: Food, family, friends and freedom; the blessed freedom to think, speak, worship and live as we want.
America is unique. America really is beautiful.

This glorious nation was won for us by the life’s blood of previous generations of Americans. Now it is up to us to hand it forward to future generations.
Freedom is a priceless inheritance that must be cherished and preserved by each succeeding generation. If one generation of Americans decides to throw freedom away, it will be gone, not for an hour or a day, but forever.
Think back through history. Think of the slavery, tyranny, suffering and oppression which most governments have forced on their people. Think of the poverty tyrannical governments sentence most of their people to while the same government protects a few chosen ones and keeps them living in lavish luxury.
Americans have never had to live this way. We’ve been free for so long that some of us no longer value our freedom. Literally millions of Americans have become so addicted to the hate porn that pours out of media outlets, podcasters, bots and fake AI videos that they are willing to throw America and all its freedoms away.

Take a moment this Thanksgiving to consider how very blessed you are to live in this free and peaceful country.
As with all good things in this life, America is a fragile gift. It can be destroyed.
Be grateful for America. Resolve to do your part to hand it forward, free and strong, to future generations.
