Do You See Two Black Swans or Three Apples?

From the day I started this blog, I have directed it to people who want to follow Christ. I’m going to broaden it to include the people who are confused by the lies being told about Jesus by political clergy.

We have one Hope and that is the Cross and the Empty Tomb. Jesus Christ and Him crucified and risen is the answer to every problem we are facing.

People are turning their backs — and rightfully so — on the hate-filled, demonic false Christ that MAGA is preaching and teaching. Many of these people do not have the understanding of who Jesus is and what He taught that they need to recognize that these teachings are maliciously false. They can’t overcome this onslaught of evil, but the goodness in them is repulsed by it. So they just walk away.

MAGA clergy do not speak for Christ and they do not belong to Him.

After a lot of prayer, I feel the need to change the focus of what I write, just a bit. I want to write for the poor people are being driven away from their own salvation by lying liars who are teaching and preaching a false christ in order to enable power-mad tyrants to rule us all.

I will continue to write for the faithful and somewhat battered Christians who see this evil for what it is but are lost and alienated within their own churches. I will write for the people who are simply on the sidelines, floundering without direction, because their shepherds are just as gobsmacked by this tsunami of evil as they are.

But there is one group of people I am not going to write for. If one of them should happen to read something here that reaches out to them and draws them, that will be the Holy Spirit, not me. I’m not rejecting them. I know and love many of them.

I just don’t feel the call to direct what I write to them. I think of them as the three apple people.

They are the people who are so deep into the Trump cult that they’ve lost contact with reality.

If Trump showed them a photo of two black swans …

… and then told them that it was actually a photo of three apples …

… they would believe the two black swans were actually three apples.

Not only that, they would become angry and abusive toward anyone who tried to tell them that they were looking at a photo of two black swans.  No matter what Trump says, no matter how absurd the lie, they believe it.

If Trump tells them to hate whole groups of innocent people, they hate those people with a red hot hate.

If Trump tells them that he’s putting troops in our cities to stop “crime,” they believe those peaceful and beautiful cities are breaking down with crime.

If Trump tells them he’s going to send everyone who disagrees with him to prison, they decide disagreeing with Trump is a crime that deserves prison.

If Trump takes all their hard-earned money and gives it to himself and other chosen billionaires, they think he’s doing the right thing and will eventually make them rich, too.

If Trump takes away their medical care, they accept dying and blame anyone but Trump. They’ll let him kill their kids, drive them all into poverty and destroy their country, and they will worship him for doing it.

Those are the people Trump can show a photo of two black swans, and then tell them it’s a photo of three apples and they will see three apples. They are the three apple people.

They’re like the Germans who were yelling Heil Hitler! while the bombs fell on their own houses.

They’re mostly very good people. But they are delusional … brainwashed … mentally ill … I don’t know. All I know is that they are beyond anything I can do or say to fix. They are seriously spiritually ill. They are deeply, deeply, into worship of a false satanic god.

Their worldview is not defined by Jesus Christ and Him crucified. They do not trust the Gospels and the 2,000 year teachings of the Church. Many of them go to church and think nothing of haranguing the rest of us about our fallen state because we do not bow to Trump. They are rotten right down to the ground with angry self-righteousness.

If you haven’t had one of these people tell you to get out of their church because you do not follow Trump, you haven’t talked to them very much. They can be very nice people. But when you challenge their false god, they change. And they turn really ugly.

I’m going to be writing — a lot — about the Little Way of ordinary people who are trying to follow Christ in these times. I’m not a great thinker, and I’m certainly not a great saint.

I’m just a back pew-sitting granny in a backwater part of the country living on Social Security who loves Jesus and is still, after all these years, grateful that He forgave me my sins and took me into His heart.

My worldview is simple. There is one Hope. There is one Way.

It does not matter what the question is, the answer is always the Cross and the Empty Tomb.

I have a God and I will not have any other. My Lord and my God is Jesus Christ and Him crucified, risen and here today to guide me and you and all of us who are willing to follow Him through whatever is coming.
